Charleston SC Real Estate Blog: 34th Kiawah Island Marathon December 10th, 2011
This years Kiawah Island Marathon will be held on December 10th, 2011 and begins at the East Beach Village Conference Center at 8:00 AM sharp. The runners will on a course that takes them through a combination of ocean-side forests, marshlands and leisurely resort roadways, the Kiawah event promises scenic views of the island's majestic beachfront homes, waterways and more.
The Kiawah Island Marathon is fast and largely flat, the race features few changes in elevation and a course that will remain open to both runners and traffic for 8 hours.
For runners who'd like to get a preview of the course before the race, organizers point out that a majority of the race course lies within a secure private community on Kiawah, and are thus closed to vehicles for preview before the event. You can park at Freshfields and then bicycle or run to the East Beach Conference Center and then check out the entire Kiawah Island Marathon route.
Volunteers to help with Kiawah Island Marathon are always needed. See additional information about
volunteering for the Kiawah Island Marathon.
The weather should not be an issue as Kiawah Island typically has mild winters (with temperatures that rarely dip into the upper 30s), the Kiawah Island area enjoys ample rainfall year-round, though December is one of its drier months with just under 3 1/4 inches of average precipitation. Temperatures during the month average between 39°F and 62°F.
As always, your thoughts, questions, or comments are greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
