Today’s article is titled:

Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site

Charles Towne Landing is located in the West Ashley neighborhood of Charleston, South Carolina.  English settlers landed here with indentured servants and African slaves after a stormy sail from Barbados in 1670.   They established what would become the birthplace of South Carolina, the plantation system of the American south, and one of the continents first port cities.

Charles Towne Landing opened in 1970 and the 664 acre site was rebuilt in 2006.  There are many things to do at the park such as touring an 80 acre English park style informal garden, view a magnificent live oaks avenue, walk the natural habitat animal zoo, the interactive visitor’s center, and walk a self interpretative history trail as it wind throughout the park.
